Event: Au Paon Dinner

Portland is getting a new cooperatively-owned vegan dessert bar and cafe from some folks you may know from The New Leaf, Portobello, and Red & Black. It’s called Au Paon and they’re hoping to land a space on East Burnside where they’ll be serving raw desserts and entrees, smoothies, juices, salads, snacks, and signature cocktails.

In the meantime, they are hosting a 3-course fundraising dinner featuring an organic, raw, gluten- and soy-free vegan menu (Aged Cashew Cheese w/ Apple, Pear, and Rosemary Crackers; Ravioli w/ Wild Arugula Salad; Strawberry, Chocolate & Banana Neapolitan) and a beverage of your choice.

Au Paon Fundraising Dinner
Saturday February 9th, 7pm-9:30pm
The Little Church, 5831 NE 23rd, Portland, OR 97211
donation $40-$100 per person (plus Eventbrite fee)

If you can’t make it on the 9th, not to worry as they are planning another event for February 22nd. More details to follow.

Open: Kitchen Dances

Looks like big changes are afoot for Kitchen Dances since we checked in with them just a month ago! The former food cart and now wholesale/Montavilla Farmers Market vendor is opening a 150-seat vegan restaurant inside the NE artist studio/residency Milepost 5 this Friday, August 3rd. They will be open from morning to night serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner including soup, salads, daily specials, desserts, and smoothies. There will be raw, gluten- and soy-free options, a full bar, and a Stumptown Espresso Bar. They are starting off with a pared-down menu and counter service while they train staff and will be adding other items over the coming weeks and eventually move to full table service.

Kitchen Dances
Milepost 5, 850 NE 81st Ave (entrance on NE Oregon between 81st & 82nd), Portland, OR 97213
Every day 9am-10pm (grand opening Friday, 8/3)

They will continue to be at the Montavilla Farmers Market through the end of October, Sundays from 10am-2pm.

Update: Kitchen Dances

In case you were wondering what happened to vegan cart Kitchen Dances since they’re no longer at the Good Food Here Pod at SE 43rd and Belmont, here’s what they’ve been up to. After closing up for the winter, they sold the cart they were using as they had outgrown it. They hope to have a larger cart in the near future, but in the meantime, they are at the Montavilla Farmers Market on Sundays where they have both cooked and raw foods (including wraps, raw cheesecakes, pies, truffles, hazelnut fudge, salads, raw pesto & hummus, and kombucha). You can find their products at People’s Co-op and Alberta Co-op and their raw cheesecake is available at A.N.D Cafe and Papa G’s.
