We drove by this cart on Hawthorne at 32nd a week or so ago and wondered if it was veg because of the name. Well, we finally got a chance to stop by today and they were already closed, but their menu says they’re 100% vegan. Looks like their current offerings are pizza and juices. They don’t seem to have any online presence yet so we don’t have any info besides what was posted at the cart. Let us know if you have more details.

Vegan Cheese slice

Via Chicago, who sold Chicago-style pizza at the PSU farmer’s market, opened their brick and mortar location at 20th & Alberta last week. They offer a deep-dish Vegan Cheese slice and pie (made with Daiya) and you can also build your own pie (any crust can be made vegan free of charge and gluten-free for an additional $2). Most of the salads can be made vegan by subbing balsamic and the White Bean Dip and Olive Bowl appetizers are vegan. So far none of the sandwiches are. Whole pies take about 30 minutes to bake and they offer counter service and take-out.

Product: The Chicago Mini

Our contributor Adam B. is repping a new deep-dish frozen pizza called The Chicago Mini. The personal-size pizzas are made by a one-man operation based in Woodstock and the vegan options use mozzarella Daiya. Some local bars like Belmont Station are starting to carry them and they’ll be available at Food Fight! starting this weekend. Adam will be offering samples there tomorrow (2/18) from 11am-2pm.

Coming: Sizzle Pie West

It’s been a long time in the works, but Sizzle Pie has finally announced that the opening date of their 2nd pizza restaurant in the old Rocco’s Pizza location across from Powell’s downtown will be New Year’s Eve. They’re kicking things off with a grand opening party starting at 6pm with specials until midnight. At 8pm they will have a show and NYE celebration with local bands at the Star Theater.
