Squash + Garlic Pizza: crooked neck squash, fresh garlic, pea shoots, and cashew cheese
Vegetarian pizza truck ASH woodfired opened at the end of Aprli in the Sellwood cart pod at the corner of SE 13th & Lexington and all of their sourdough wood fired pizzas can be made vegan with their housemade cashew cheese for an additional charge.
Owners Ted and Alexandra Scharpnick moved to Portland in January from San Francisco, where Ted had a long background in working at veg restaurants including Millennium (he went to school at Natural Gourmet Institute and worked at Candle Cafe while in NY). He grew his own sourdough starter using local grapes, makes their sauces from scratch, and changes the menu every day based on seasonal and local produce (check their Facebook page for the day’s options).
Eggplant + Radicchio: housemade marinara, roasted eggplant, radicchio, cashew cheese, chili flakes
The pizzas are approximately 8” and made to order. Vegan pizzas are in the $11-13 range. They do offer a gluten-free crust option, but it isn’t vegan.
On the dessert front, they have made their own vegan marshmallows and are currently sourcing a vegan graham cracker so that they will soon be offering vegan s’mores.
